‘Die Another Day’ star Pierce Brosnan thinks it is time for a female 007. Speaking to the media over the weekend, it seems that Pierce Brosnan has changed his stance on having a female 007.
In 2015, the Hollywood actor was greatly criticized for saying that it was possible for a black actor, like Idris Elba to step into the shoes of 007, but that it was not possible for an actress stepping in. He said, “Anything is possible for sure, but I think he’ll be male and he’ll be white. There are wonderful black actors out there who could be James Bond, and there’s no reason why you cannot have a black James Bond. But a female James Bond, no, I think it has to be male. James Bond is a guy; he’s all-male. His name is James, his name is James Bond.”
However, when Brosnan was asked in 2019 about the possibility of a woman taking on the role of 007, he replied with an enthusiastic “yes”. He said I think we’ve watched the guys do it for the last 40 years. Get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there. I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting.”
Brosnan also mentioned that he didn’t think it was possible to have a female as 007 because of the franchise’s current producers, the Broccolis.
In the upcoming Daniel Craig – James Bond movie, “No Time to Die”, Lashana Lynch is expected to make her franchise debut. There are also rumors that she may take on the role of 007 in the near future.
