Two blockbuster movies of all time, One with its huge brand name Marvels’ Avengers: Endgame and the other famous for its exceptional science fiction story and work of animation Avatar, has been compared so many times, but we still can’t precisely come to a conclusion.
As of July 2019, ten years after securing the world record, James Cameron’s sci-fiction has was finally unseated from the throne of the highest-grossing movie of all time, and the ones to take their position was none other than a team of superheroes in the Avengers: Endgame.
According to Guinness World Records’ movie consultants, Avengers: Endgame (2019) has created history when it left behind a ten-year record holder movie Avatar by an income of $500,000 in July 2019. As per them, Avengers grossed $2,790,216,193 at the global box office as of July 2019 which is a comfortable ahead of Avatar’s income $2,789,705,275.
Fans of both the movies are indifferent about both as one holds something special which the other doesn’t have. Avatar had reigned for nearly ten years as the world’s biggest movie and fought tough competition with movies like Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Jurassic World (2015) to name a few.
Avatar was released in the year 2009 and its sequel was announced in the year 2010, which was one of the reasons to keep the movie strong and going for such a long period as ten years. Avatar has also won the 82nd Academy Awards for Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects, and was nominated for nine-time in categories including Best Picture and Best Director
On the other hand, Avengers Endgame is presently struggling to get an Oscars this year. As per sources, the movie is being pushed in a number of categories such as Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography etc to name a few.
Director James Cameron will come up with a sequel of Avatar in the year 2021 and a possibility of Avatar 3 and Avatar 4 is also there, though nothing is yet confirmed.
