British teen comedy-drama ‘Sex Education’ created by Laurie Nunn is coming back with its second season.
The first season was premiered on 11 January 2019 on Netflix and became a critical and commercial success, which reached over 40 million views. Immediately after the success of the first season, Netflix renewed the show for a second season on February 2019.
“The reception to series one has been so exciting,” said creator Laurie Nunn. “Seeing how people across the world have connected to characters that began as ideas in my head is incredible. I’m hugely grateful to every person that has taken the time to watch the series, and I can’t wait to continue this amazing journey,” she added further.
Though no release date has been given yet, the show is expected to release at the beginning of 2020. Netflix posted a video of the cast reuniting for the first readthrough of season two on 1st May 2019, declaring the start of filming of the next season.
As per the confirmation made by Netflix, the main cast will be returning in season two as well. So Gillian Anderson will again be seen as Jean, Asa Butterfield as Otis, Emma Mackey as Maeve, Ncuti Gatwa as Eric, Aimee-Lou Wood as Aimee, Connor Swindells as Adam, Kedar Williams-Stirling as Jackson, Tanya Reynolds as Lily, and Patricia Allison as Ola.
No news regarding any other member joining the cast has been made yet and to find about it, we will have to wait for the release of the official trailer.
Netflix has been quiet about the storyline, keeping the suspense alive in the fans. However, with several statements from the creators and the actors, we are expected to see a bigger and better season.
The expected storyline will include the future of Eric’s romance with Adam and also the development of Otis and Ola’s relationship. But, at the same time, we saw Maeve figuring out her feelings for Otis. So will there be an Otis and Maeve angel or Otis and Ola’s story will continue; we’ll find out in season two.
