Oliver Jackson-Cohen Replies To Fan-Casting For Marvel’s Moon Knight

Oliver Jackson-Cohen has answered that Marc Spector is a top choice among fans in the Marvel’s Moon Knight series on Disney+. Last year Marvel Studios confirmed Moon Knight’s contribution to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since then, the famously tight-lipped studio hasn’t said much else about the series.

Marvel’s Moon Knight

Moon Knight is a favorite character among the hard-hit Marvel Comics fans, but he doesn’t have a household name. The mystical Moon God is cool, but what makes Moon Knight genuinely unique is the revelation that he has a dissociative identity disorder. Each of his three personalities has it’s own distinctive traits and identities. Assuming the MCU version of Spector is the same, the studio will need to cast an actor who can handle the massive range required for the part.

Oliver Jackson-Cohen

Marvel hadn’t played the part yet, but fans expected that Oliver Jackson-Cohen would play the Jewish superhero. He recently performed in The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix and will play the leading role in the Invisible Man of Blumhouse next. Although flattered, the actor acknowledged that he did not know the character. But he would certainly like to be a superhero and work for Marvel.

Jackson-Cohen may not know Moon Knight yet, but maybe because he would make an excellent Marc Spector, he should read on the character. He’s in his early 30’s, so for a long time he might play the role, and he’s tall-6’3-which means that he can take the hero’s intimidating physical presence away. He is also a -player in the industry and has a range of characters to employ. Yet Marvel was not approached by Jackson-Cohen to this level, so it is uncertain whether he is considered. Rumors had Daniel Radcliffe in the running, but then leaked a casting notice claiming that Marvel is looking for a Jewish-Israeli star of the Zac Efron kind. To Jackson-Cohen, whose father is an Egyptian-Jewish family, this is good news.

Marvel Is Yet To Decide

If he talks to the studio or not, Marvel doesn’t have to decide who will play Moon Knight long before. Jeremy Slater was recruited to direct the writing hall forward, starting sometime later this year. The costume fittings and preparation for anyone cast as Moon Knight can be used to choose at any time. Now that Oliver Jackson-Cohen is interested in joining the MCU, Marvel could look ahead to the hunt for Moon Knight’s leading actor.
