The Abbott Elementary series is a wildly popular one in children’s books, but this latest release is on the receiving end of some serious criticism. ABC and Quinta Brunson Hit With Copyright is the newest installment, which follows Abbott’s main characters as they explore their hometown of Cunningham Corners.
The preschool to 3rd grade level readers are going to love learning about the history of their town and meet some new friends along the way with easy language, cute illustrations, and well-paced sentences. However there may be a problem with this book because it looks like it was taken from Anne Brennan’s book The Napping House Abecedarians.
The text begins with, “Once there was a house with a funny name.” Those familiar with Anne Brennan’s books will understand this totally, but those who don’t think that the text blatantly stolen.
This has been happening lately in many cases and it is not OK because this is just stealing. Abbott Elementary needs to learn their lesson that things like this are not OK and people are going to see them for what it really is so let them know about it now, before a copycat copies their work without any knowledge of copyright laws at all.
