The Dune The Sisterhood series will no longer be written by series creator Diane Ademu-John, who is leaving to take on a new creative opportunity. The Sisterhood will now be written by Rhiannon Frater, who has collaborated on the series with Adamu-John since 2014. Frater joined a team of writers led by Adamu-John, who created Dune: The Sisterhood in as a “light” character-driven fanfiction story before deciding to make it into an official series. The Sisterhood is set on the planet Arrakis and follows the adventures of young women from across multiple worlds and periods working together to take back control from those who have manipulated them for personal gain. The women are often referred to as “Jedis” for their physical and mental abilities, but their names and true origins are kept a secret. The Sisterhood’s main enemy is a hologram named Primo, who has been sent back to steal women’s bodies and use them for his purposes. The fanfic series originated as an offshoot of the New Jedi Order: The Unifying Force series created by author Tom Veitch. Adamu-John, who is a Star Wars fan and has written several Star Wars graphic novels with film director Rian Johnson, was inspired to create The Sisterhood after reading through Veitch’s original work.
