Dwayne Johnson, the actor of Black Adam, appears to have declined a request to reprise his superhuman character in  DC Universe standalone “The Flash” movie, due out next year. Johnson’s Black Adam was finally released in theatres in October 2022. Still, it had a difficult time at the box office, only making roughly $390 million there while having a production budget of $195 million and an $80-$100 million marketing expenditure. While James Gunn and Peter Safran, the co-CEOs of DC Studios, appear to have a very different vision for the DCU’s future, rumors have it that Johnson’s relationship with WBD hasn’t been quite healthy lately. With his major part in Black Adam, Johnson has only made one appearance in the DC Universe so far. According to reports, he even declined the opportunity to play the same part in Shazam 2 in 2023.

Why did Dwayne decline to cameo in “The Flash” movie?

Although James Gunn and Peter Safran, the co-CEOs of DC Studios, have a plan for the DCU that will be revealed next year, everything is still quite unclear until that information makes everything apparent. It’s becoming clear, though, that Dwayne Johnson didn’t like the notion of their characters being mentioned in each other’s movies, let alone working together on a movie with Shazam. On other hand, In “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” which also features a superb cast that includes Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu as two of the sequel’s villains, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman is anticipated to make a brief appearance. When deciding which characters may interact with Billy Batson’s alter ego in this movie, Black Adam should have undoubtedly been at the top of the list.

Will Johnson Play Black Adam Once More?

With the present era of the DCU coming to a close next year, WBD is retreating from many of its early ambitions for “The Flash”. Both a cameo by Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and a cameo by Henry Cavill’s Superman after the actor left the role have already been cut from the movie.

On the other hand, this is still indicating that Dwayne Johnson’s partnership with DC Studios may be coming to an end after suffering losses with Black Adam, both commercially and critically. Even though Johnson is one of the biggest movie stars in the business, his propensity to decline cameo roles in films other than Black Adam may surely be considered troubling. Johnson has also stated that he will be leaving the DC Universe for the foreseeable future, which may seriously undermine any expectation for his comeback.

In the Conclusion,

The DC Universe itself seems to be in a state of flux. While the release date for Flashpoint Paradox has been pushed back, it’s still unclear whether James Gunn and Peter Safran will be toning down the dark elements of the DCEU or abandoning them altogether. There are rumors as well that Gal Gadot won’t appear in The Flash. The Flash as her version of Wonder Woman didn’t do very well in Black Adam and was quite different from her earlier take on the character.
