The Event Horizon series has always been one of my favorite horror franchises. They’re frightening, and suspenseful and make for great stories. Recently I re-watched the commentary for the two movies. The commentary was insightful with director Paul Anderson and writer Philip Eisner popping up throughout each movie to provide interesting tidbits about how this series became a cult favorite or recall their memories from filming the first two movies (and in one instance, meeting Alex Garland). It’s a must-watch for fans of Event Horizon as they will get to hear some behind-the-scenes stories and get some insight into what went on while filming such a suspenseful series. The commentary is also available on the Event Horizon laserdisc for those that are hardcore enough to own a working laserdisc player.

Do you know about the release date of the Event Horizon series:

This series will be released on 8 August 2022. Also, the series has already been made available on Blu-ray Disc as a budget release and it is available on YouTube. The series is not yet available on DVD so if you would like to check it out you should buy the Blu-ray Disc. The DVD was released by Studio Canal and the DVD contains three episodes: “Hellworld”, “The Mystery of Planet MU/C” and “The Labyrinth of Lunacy”. The commentaries are not on this DVD release.

Here is the plot of the Event Horizon series discussed:

The plot of Event Horizon focuses on John Matheson (Sam Neill) who is a research scientist aboard the spaceship “Event Horizon” which mysteriously disappears with his colleague, Dr. Richard Crellin (Gary Oldman). He’s trapped in an escape pod, and after 59 days of drifting through space, he lands on the “Hellworld”, a desolate barren planet.  The first movie is only half-length because it was made to be a two-part movie and Part One ends just as the ship comes shooting out of the black hole. The second part picks up right where Part One left off and follows Matheson’s odyssey through Hellworld and beyond to solve the mystery of what happened to him and his shipmates.
