The original HOME ALONE movie was released in 1990. Now, 27 years later, we are getting a reboot! It is said to be “a modern take on the story” and will have some changes from the original. The PLOT of the new movie is unknown as of now, but it is set for release in 2022. There has been speculation that Macaulay Culkin may return to his iconic role as Kevin McCallister, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
ABOUT HOME ALONE:
Home Alone is a 1990 American comedy film written and produced by John Hughes, directed by Chris Columbus. It features Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister, an eight-year-old boy who is mistakenly left behind when his family takes a Christmas vacation to France. With the help of two neighbors (Daniel Stern and Catherine O’Hara) and a pair of burglars (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern), Kevin has to protect his house from being robbed.
HOME ALONE REBOOT PRODUCTION:
The reboot will be directed by Chris Columbus, who also helmed the original movie; however, he is not producing it. The film’s producer – John Hughes’ daughter Harriet- has said that her father would have loved to produce a sequel, and so they hope this Home Alone Reboot does his legacy justice.
FILMING:
The film started filming in April 2019 and will be filmed until September 2021.
THE STARRING CAST:
Allister will be played by an unknown actor, and it has not been confirmed if any other stars from the original film will return to reprise their role.

EXPECTATIONS:
The EXPECTATIONS for the reboot are high as we wait to see if this is a good idea or not. The original HOME ALONE movie was released in 1990. Now, 27 years later, we are getting a reboot! It is said to be a “reimagining” of the original and will have some changes from the original. The PLOT is said to be different from the original and will not have a house being robbed. It’s unclear if it’ll follow more of an adventure theme instead, but we do know there won’t be any burglars at all.
RATINGS:
It has a PG rating which is different from the G rating of the original HOME ALONE movie that came out in 1990! It’s unclear if the PLOT will be more PG-rated than that PLOT, but it does have a different rating. As of now, there are no reviews or ratings for the reboot. However, when HOME ALONE came out in 1990, it got mixed reviews from critics, with 45% on Rotten Tomatoes giving positive reviews. PLOT has been getting a lot of attention and is being praised for its originality.
