Nicknamed the “Handsome King,” as well as the “Merry Monarch” or the “Lionheart,” Richard III was one of England’s most notorious kings.

Born in 1452 to Anne Neville and George Plantagenet, Duke of Clarence, Richard was the last king to die in battle. Much like the Shakespearean play that would later be created about him, King Richard III has been rumored as a tyrant who killed his wife and children for political gain.
