In the world of Netflix, the best thing to happen is when the streaming service orders a new series. This time around, the streaming giant has ordered Night Agent from showrunner Shawn Ryan and director Seth Gordon. The book that the show will be based on was published last year, and it’s already been optioned for film by Sony Pictures Television Studios – the studio behind the project. Ryan will serve as showrunner of the 10-episode series, which he will executive produce via his MiddKid Productions.
Gordon will executive produce through his Exhibit A banner. Also, executives producing The Night Agent are MiddKid Production’s Marney Hochman, Exhibit A’s Julia Gunn, as well as Jamie Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, and Nicole Tossou from Project X, and David Beaubaire for Sunset Lane Media. Sony Pictures Television is the studio.
“The Night Agent” Plot Details
All details about this exciting new project are coming soon! All we know so far is the show will be set in the world of the FBI, and it’s going to be based on Matthew Quirk’s novel. It centers on FBI Agent Peter Sutherland, who is thrown into a vast conspiracy and must stop a Russian mole at the highest levels of the US government. To save the nation, Peter plunges into a desperate hunt for the traitor and must take the rules into his own hands, question everything, and trust no one.
While the details are still being hashed out, the lead character will be played by John Light. You might recognize him from Netflix hit series “Designated Survivor,” and was last seen in the film “A Quiet Place.”
He’ll also appear as a guest star in an upcoming episode of FX Networks’ “Legion.” The rest of the cast is set to include Yara Shahidi (Grownish), who you may know from Black-ish or CollegeHumor Originals; Neal McDonough (Justified); Geraldine Viswanathan (Narcos Season One); and Jeff Hephner (Training Day).
This one looks like the perfect show to binge-watch on the couch with a nice blanket and some hot chocolate.
