Space Force had a rocky start when it first premiered on Netflix. The show was met with mixed reviews and many people claimed that it was just a cheap knockoff of the popular show, The Office. However, Space Force has made a course correction in its second season and is now starting to find its footing. In this blog post, we will discuss the improvements made in Season 2 and why you should give it another chance.

In the first season, many of the characters which our main protagonist, Jim Bouchard, interacted were bland and uninteresting. This is most apparent in his relationship with his wife and son. For instance, Jim’s wife would tell him what to do instead of being an equal partner in their marriage.

She also was extremely passive-aggressive and naggy in her relationships with other people such as her co-workers. Their son, Charlie, wasn’t any better either as he was a whiney brat during the first season who only thought about himself and didn’t respect his father.

What inspired you to write the Space Force series of books?

This series is inspired by my own life experiences. I investigated many facts about the US Space Force and this led me to write the series.

I have always loved military books made by John Grisham and Tom Clancy. This was one of the reasons I wanted to write a book series about military space because it is also a military novel in which we can find lots of adventures and real-life situations that could be similar to our lives in future wars.

How do you come up with the ideas for your characters and storylines?

I came up with the ideas for characters and storylines by researching the US Space Force. I read books, audio CDs and also watch movies that are based on the US Space Force. My favorite book of all time is “The Catcher in the Rye” written by J.D Salinger.

I have been a military officer for about 42 years and I know people who have also been in the military. However, none of the characters were based on real-life experiences or people I know.

How did you become interested in writing fiction? When did it become a passion?

I was an avid reader as a child and teenager and was also an active reader throughout my adult years. I read novels, non-fiction books, textbooks, and magazines among other things. When I reached adulthood, I decided to start writing short stories but quickly stopped after realizing that other writers were ahead of me in my genre since they have written more books than I had written

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers out there who want to create their own stories?

Do not be afraid to write and tell your own stories. The world needs more creative writers, especially when it comes to writing fiction in the future. Books have a way of shaping the youth of today as they learn and grow with their characters throughout the book.

I wish to write at least a 1,000-page book series before I retire from this career. This will take me at least 8 years to accomplish but I am willing to work hard for this goal so that when I’m done, other people will read my books for inspiration and enjoyment.
