Sanditon fans rejoice! The popular PBS show is coming back for a second season, and this time around the focus will be on Charlotte and Mr. Colbourne. In an interview with Collider, actor Ben Lloyd-Hughes talked about his character and what viewers can expect from him in Season 2.
“He’s very much a product of his environment,” Lloyd-Hughes said of Colbourne. “He was born into aristocracy and he’s never really had to work for anything in his life.”
For those who may not know, Ben Lloyd-Hughes is the son of Oscar and BAFTA Award-winning actress Jane Birkin. He’s had roles in hit films such as The Guard, 24: Redemption, and Lawrence Potter in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

This series will be released on 24 April 2022. Also, the series has 12 episodes. The series is set in the fictional English town of Sanditon, Dorset. The series tells the story of wealthy landowner Mr. Farthing and a family who live at the nearby Sanditon House Hotel.
The Colbrands are a rooted and well-established local family that has been running the hotel for generations, although Ben’s character is denied a part in their history for the sake of his rising family status.

The plot of the series will reveal the romance between Charlotte, Colbron’s second-youngest daughter, and Colbourne. It seems that there is something more than a regular romance between the two. The two met in the first season but Colbourne was called away not to see Charlotte again till Season 2.
The ending of Season 1 left us hanging with Charlotte being held at gunpoint by an unknown figure in a mask who told Mr. Farthing that he has stolen his family, his home and his life but will give him 24 hours to leave Sanditon before he would harm Charlotte.

Kate Ashfield, Anne Reid, Rose Williams (Charlotte), Crystal Clarke (Miss Lambe) and Kris Marshall (Tom Parker). We can see that there are new characters too: Mary Parker, Tom Parker, and his daughters Miss Lambe, Mary Parker, and little Tom himself.
The Return of Mary Parker:
Mary will be played by Anne Reid, who was first seen as Lady Denham’s companion in the first season. She is also well-known for being a part of the drama Last Tango In Halifax. In this series, she portrays Lady Denham’s kind and caring right hand who keeps her grounded. We haven’t seen much of her in Season 1 but she can be considered as one of the main characters in Season 2.
Will there be a Sanditon movie after the series ends?
Yes, there will be a Sanditon Movie after the series ends! This is something that most fans of the series look forward to. The movie is also going to be based on the novel by Jane Austen.
Many fans are wondering how Ben Lloyd-Hughes came about playing this role in Sanditon Season 2, as some are suggesting that he doesn’t have enough screen time in the first season. However, Colbourne was not at all a main character in Season 1 of Sanditon.
What are your thoughts on the show so far?
Personally, I am enjoying the first season of Sanditon. So far, it has been really good. For this reason, I would recommend this series to others who like Austenian drama or those who want to know more about the English aristocracy of the 18th century.

What are your expectations from Ben Lloyd-Hughes in Season 2?
Personally, I think that Ben Lloyd-Hughes has done a great job in Season 1 of Sanditon and is one of my favorite characters in the series so far. His performance is complex and interesting due to his complicated character. He is not just the rich kid from a family of nobility in Sanditon. He’s very different from that. However, I hope for more screen time for Colbourne in Season 2.
