THE PLOT:
The fifth and final season of Search Party is coming to TBS this November. In the show, four friends in New York City investigate the disappearance of their college friend from ten years ago. With the help of an eccentric detective played by John Early (Search Party), they interact with a wide range of characters who may have had something to do with her disappearance.
The show follows Dory, Elliott, Portia, and Jennifer as they take over the investigation into Chantal Witherbottom’s disappearance to save one of their friends from being imprisoned for ten years.
Search Party Season five will premiere in 2021, with the first two episodes often. “The story is still out there,” said Showalter, who co-created the show with Hagner. “We’re not trying to definitively answer this question.” The creators say they want people to wonder what happened in that decade between seasons four and five of Search Party, but the show will also start to tie up loose ends from the first four seasons.

Filming for Search Party Season Five concluded on February 13th, 2019. There has been no confirmed release date announced yet, but the creators say that they hope it’s out by May of next year.

In those ten years, we’ll get to see what life has been like for all our favorite characters in their post-college lives. And when Dory finds out her college professor might have been a key player in the disappearance of her friend, she’s determined to get some answers.
The creators say that season five is definitely going to be pretty different from season one. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly on January 12th, 2019, they said, “Dory’s 20-something self will have a lot more to contend with in her adult life than she did as a college student.”The creators also said that they are “trying something different” for season five but didn’t say what exactly this was going to be.
EXPECTATIONS:
The creators have said that season five will be different from previous seasons. It’s likely going to catch up with Dory as she has her first job and is dealing with adult life rather than college student life. The creators also mentioned a “different” approach for the fourth series, but we’ll just have to wait and see what this entails.
