What inspired you to write the Swimming With Sharks series?

The series is inspired by the Kevin Spacey’s Movie ‘Swimming With Sharks’ which is a remake of the John Hughes’ Film ‘The Breakfast Club’. I had seen that movie many times and I loved it so much. I also really like John Hughes movies. The mood, the setting and the storyline.

They’re all very good. When I saw “The Breakfast Club Again Day” (at least in my opinion) on Netflix, I thought it would be a good idea to do a reboot/remake of that movie together with ‘Swimming With Sharks’.

How did you come up with the idea for the series and its characters?

The idea was created by me in my head and then I wanted to write down the storyline. After that, I started thinking about how I would make the characters. How they would look and how they would behave. I only made a few changes to the original script.

It is a lot of fun, but sometimes it’s very hard work too: finding the time to write and do other things at the same time (social life etc.). But it’s really nice to not have to go to an office everyday or have meetings and stuff like that. You can just relax and focus on your own project.

What do you think makes your series different from other series out there?

I think the plot is very interesting and different because of the humor in some scenes, but in others it gets very dramatic. That makes it special for me because most TV shows are only funny, romantic or dramatic. In this series, you get all of them. That’s why I love my own series so much!

Who are some of your favorite authors and why?

Well, I’m not a big fan of books in general, but my favorite authors are John Grisham and Stephen King. The reason: Because their stories are really thrilling and that’s exactly what I want to write about in my future series.

What was the inspiration for your characters?

The inspiration for the characters is always different, depending on what I’m writing about. For Swimming With Sharks however I wanted to base all characters on real people from Hollywood and more specifically from the movie industry.
