In The Afterparty, the murder mystery party game for 8-18 guests, you are all invited to a dinner party that quickly turns into a crime scene. One of your fellow guests has been murdered, and it is up to you to solve the crime. The game includes everything you need to throw an exciting murder mystery party, including invitations, character bios, secret clues, and a dinner menu. So put on your thinking caps and get ready for a night of intrigue and suspense!

I grew up in Southern California and recently settled in Washington, DC with my husband. I have degrees in economics and political science and worked as a subcontractor for the Department of Defense back in California. My first love has always been reading and writing, but I’ve only recently begun to pursue these passions professionally.

Do you know about the release date of The Afterparty:

This series will be released on 28 January 2022. Also the series has been bought by Netflix. I love getting to create stories and characters, but what I like even more than that is getting to share them with other people. Getting messages from people saying they enjoyed my book is a reason to be excited every single day.

Unless you’re already famous (and I don’t know if that’s better or worse), nobody knows who you are, and even if they do, who cares? Everyone thinks they can write a novel, so the competition is immense.

Here is the plot of The Afterparty discussed:

You are attending a dinner party for one of your oldest friends, Rebecca Smith. You arrive to find that she has been murdered in her home’s basement. Your job is to figure out who murdered her and why, or at least try.

Reinvention Of The Murder Mystery will follow the same game play as Tea With The Royalist, but with new rules and entirely different story. Players will be able to ask each other questions although they won’t know the answers. Then they’ll have to act according to the consequences of their choices since nobody knows everything about everybody else.

The Name of Cast & Characters of The Afterparty:

  • Tiffany Haddish · Detective Danner
  • Sam Richardson · Aniq
  • Zoe Chao · Zoë
  • Ike Barinholtz · Brett
  • Ben Schwartz · Yasper

What inspired you to write The Afterparty Series?

This series is inspired by a party I threw where my friends pretended to be characters from the show, Curb Your Enthusiasm. I loved the idea of getting people to reveal themselves by imitating someone else.

The Afterparty is a murder mystery that features a dinner party with friends and then turns into a crime scene. What would you say is the moral lesson behind it? It took me about two months to write this book. I wrote one draft of this book after which I sent it off to my editor and made some changes based on her feedback.

What was the process of writing the series like for you?

It was a year-long process. I first planned it, then I wrote the book in around six months and then sent it off to my editor. Then I wrote another draft based on her feedback and made some more significant edits to the book.

I think it must have been 1-2 months of outlining the story, and then probably two to three months writing it. I put this book out in six months because that is what my editor wanted from me as well.

How does the series reflect your own personal experiences and beliefs about life?

I think it definitely reflects my life experience. I was born and raised in California, and I moved to Washington DC a few years ago.

There are secret clues in the book that will help you solve the crime. I’ve come up with four guesses for who the murderer is, but you might have other ideas from your own lived experiences! There’s also a secret section of recipes in the book dedicated to Rebecca that I wrote as if The Afterparty were an actual cookbook for her murder mystery party.

Do you have any plans to write more books in The Afterparty Series?

I have! I am working on book number two right now. My favorite part is describing what happens to the characters after the party is over. My favorite character gets to have an emotional monologue at the very end of book one.

I really like my cover designer, Christi Brinkman, who designed both of my covers for “The Afterparty” and “Tea with a Royalist.” She does a fantastic job taking my vision and bringing it to life.

Are there any particular scenes or moments in the series that are your favorites?

I really love the scene in which one of the characters tells a story about himself that he’s been holding back. It’s something that I think will make it into my second book.I am a huge fan of science fiction and fantasy, but I still enjoy all types of books. I want to read more about the lives of women, their struggles and the process of them getting what they want in a society that tells them that it isn’t possible.
