Atlanta is an American comedy-drama television series on FX created by Donald Glover, who also stars as Earnest “Earn” Marks. The show follows two cousins navigating their way in the Atlanta rap scene to achieve success. The show’s first season premiered on September 12, 2016. The third and final season will focus on Earn trying to become a successful manager while Paper Boi is enjoying his newly found fame as the hottest rapper in Atlanta. They both are struggling with balancing their personal lives following money, power, success, and fame.

There has been no confirmation relating to the release date of Atlanta season 3, but it is expected to be in early 2022.
THE PLOT:
In Season One, we are introduced to Earn and his cousin Alfred “Paper Boi” Miles as they try to manage their personal lives while transitioning from being underground local rappers into mainstream hip hop superstars. The second season follows Paper Boi’s burgeoning rap career being derailed by outside forces and Paper Boi getting swept up in a deal with the feds.

The show follows two cousins as they work through the Atlanta music scene to better their lives and the lives of their families. Earn Marks (played by Donald Glover) is a Princeton dropout who returns home to manage his cousin’s hip-hop career. Alfred Miles, aka Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry), is a local rapper trying to make it big. Their lives are complicated by the arrival of Earn’s Uncle Oscar (played by Tracy Morgan) and Paper Boi’s blossoming Public with Van (Zazie Beetz).
PRODUCTION:
Atlanta was filmed on location at various areas in Georgia, including Stone Mountain State Park, which doubled as shooting locations for the fictional town of Libertyville, and in a small city near Savannah. The production of this series is overseen by Glover’s brother Stephen “Don” Glover, who has served as showrunner for Seasons One and Two. Atlanta was renewed for a third season.

Reviews have mostly praised Glover’s performance as well as the writing, direction, and cinematography. The series has been praised for its realistic portrayal of black people and their lives, as well as Glover’s unique voice and creativity. It is already being hailed by some critics as one of the greatest shows ever made.
RATINGS:
The first season, which aired in 2016, was met with widespread critical acclaim and had a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The first two seasons of Atlanta have been well-received by critics with a Metacritic score of 84% and 89%, respectively. In the United States, it is ranked #13 among all television shows on Rotten Tomatoes for 2019. The show has also gained popularity in Australia, Canada, and South Africa.
EXPECTATIONS:
Season three of Atlanta has been ordered by FX and is set to premiere. Fans are expecting the third season of Atlanta to be more surreal like other parts of Glover’s work as Childish Gambino; they also expect it to explore themes related to race in America.
