The Good Cop season 2 plot, cast, and production. This is a new Netflix series that first aired on November 16th, 2018. The plot revolves around Tony’s (Tony Danza) life as an NYPD officer who also happens to be a highly functioning alcoholic and the son of NYPD detective Frank (Josh Groban). He takes over his dad’s position in homicide after he retires from the force.
About Good-cop Season 2:
The plot allows viewers to see the life of a detective after he has retired from the force. Tony’s mission is to balance his personal life with being involved in solving crimes. To add to this plot, Frank gets killed by an unknown assailant while investigating a crime scene which leaves Detective Tony Danza devastated.
It was determined to uncover the truth behind his father’s death. Although it is a comedy, there are still plot twists and turns leaving viewers on edge in their seats trying to solve the mysteries that unfold with each episode of this season.
The release date of The Good Cop Season 2: :
Netflix is yet to announce the release date, however, season two is expected to be available on-demand from September 21st in 2022.
The production team:
Andy Breckman, the show’s creator and executive producer along with Randy Zisk (director) are back on board for season two. Mike Post returns as music composer while David Bickel will be responsible for cinematography of all ten episodes which has already started production in New York City.
Filming:
Season two of The good cop has already started production with a tentative release date in September 2022. The Good Cop Season production began in March 2018. Filming took place mainly on location in Brooklyn NY with some scenes shot at Silvercup Studios East and NEP Broadcasting Headquarters.
Awards:
The series was the first Netflix original production to be nominated for Primetime Emmy Award. Season one’s cast and crew were also recognized with several nominations at a various industry awards function, including Satellite Awards and Golden Globe Award. Season one of The good cop had some great reviews and won a couple of awards, however, the series was not considered for Emmy Award nominations in 2018.
Revenue:
Netflix has not revealed the money spent on the production of season one, but it is estimated to be around $13 million.
The plot:
Tony Danza plays Tony Sr., an NYPD detective who retired from being a homicide investigator after 30 years of service. Tony Jr., or Detective Danny as he is also known, continues the family tradition of being a cop in New York City but his father’s death has left him to fill both roles on top of continuing an active personal life which includes new relationships and developing old ones with characters from season one. Netflix acquired The Good Cop to be another original production following its success with House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black.
The Good Cop plot follows two father figures working together to clean up a Brooklyn precinct through unorthodox methods such as using their “un-expertise” in forensic science, interrogation techniques, and street knowledge. The show has been compared to Law & Order due to its plot style and the plot has been described as a “light touch” with some “serious subjects”.
Ratings:
Netflix has a very effective rating system where subscribers rate the episodes of a TV show they have watched. The more viewers watch an episode, the higher its rating on Netflix and Rotten Tomatoes becomes.
