The Green Knight is a story of love and loss set in England during the First World War. Lady Katherine (played by Olivia Williams) has just lost her husband to influenza when she receives news that he may have survived the war. But Katherine must embark on an arduous journey across Europe before she can be reunited with him at his hospital in Switzerland. Her trip takes her through war-torn France filled with desperate refugees fleeing from Germany’s brutal advance into Belgium.

She fears that Cuthbert has been changed in some way, and she knows he doesn’t want to see him. They speak, and Cuthbert learns that his fiancé has a new lover: Sir Lancelot du Lac (Lancelot). Disillusioned with love, he leaves her without an explanation.
