What does “Clerks III” mean?
The title presumably means that this will be the last installment in Kieth Smith’s clerk trilogy and he has confirmed many times that Clerk I and clerk II are part of one story arc with clerk III being their conclusion. We don’t know how clerk iii will end or whether they’ll continue into another sequel just yet. All we can do right now is speculate until more information becomes available to us.
Plot Summary of “Clerks III”
The movie picks up, in the aftermath of Randal’s massive heart attack. He enlists Dante, Elias, Jay, and Silent Bob to make a movie that immortalizes his life at the convenience store that started it all.
Smith has said that his real-life experience inspired the film. “This is a much more personal story than the previous incarnation, drawing directly on the heart attack that nearly killed me (3 years ago next month),” he wrote in January 2021.
“It was oddly triggering writing those scenes, as it was the first time in a while I contemplated how close I came to shuffling loose this mortal coil. But far more than make me mindful of my own mortality, this script to Clerks III makes me laugh out loud.”
