The Terminal List series follows the last known survivor of a group of air traffic controllers during the terrorist attacks on America at the hands of Islamic extremists. It is both intense and harrowing but is also filled with hope and humanity. The show has been billed as “24” meets “Homeland”, but it’s so much more. The show keeps you guessing throughout, with its many twists and turns. The series also tackles topics such as race relations in the US, religion in America, and terrorism on American soil for which there are no easy solutions. The show also deals with very real, hard-hitting subjects, such as mental illness, miscarriage, and the horrors of war.

The series takes place on September 11th (the date you know it came to an end in 2001) and follows the lives of five people caught up in the aftermath of that fateful day. Each character has their own story to tell, but all stories lead us back to 9/11.

 9/11 was not only orchestrated by terrorists, but Ted starts to find out that there were actors within his government who knew about it beforehand – people in power who were responsible for the deaths of thousands on American soil. What can we expect from the Terminal List series?

We can expect the series to be intense and to pull no punches. It’s been made clear that Season two will be darker than the first, so there’s no looking back. The good thing about the series is that it follows five main characters and each of them has its storyline, so we’ll get to watch different sides of each person as they go through different stages in life.  While we know from the trailers that Ted will be one of the main characters, we don’t know what scenes he’ll appear in or whether his story will unfold with Lucy (who is pregnant on his birthday).

Who are the director’s favorite characters and why?

The favorite characters of the directors are Ted and Lucy. They are the two characters who were directly involved in 9/11, so their storylines will be the most thrilling to see unfold.  Ted is a widower dealing with the death of his wife Cindy (who was killed just after Lucy was born) and he’s also trying to come to terms with the fact that her parents – who he became very close to both before and after their daughter’s death – have been diagnosed with cancer at opposite ends of life. He becomes an advocate for mental health; he wants to bring light to an often-ignored topic.
