American Professional Wrestling Tag Team – The Hurt Business

The Philadelphia-based professional wrestling tag team The Oath, composed of former Ring of Honor duo Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels, are no strangers to the world of professional wrestling. They were the first ever American World Tag Team Champions alongside their manager Moose in 2011, then managed by AJ Styles in 2012 on both Impact Wrestling and TNA. However, they were also part of a unique group, an all-star tag team consisting of members from every NWA-affiliated promotion throughout the world that debuted at WrestleMania XIX in 2004 as Disciples Of The New Church.

It was an unusual tag team, to say the least. They were a trio consisting of one Japanese wrestling rookie, one Mexican wrestler from the Universal Wrestling Association, and a man from America with no affiliation whatsoever to the promotion before joining together in 2004 at that year’s WrestleMania. It included two men who were Grand Slam champions (World Heavyweight Champion), a champion in two of the three major promotions, and one who was also a former middleweight champion in AIW.

The group began their first match as The Disciples Of The New Church on May 12, being unable to succeed in defeating ROH World Tag Team Champions Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli for their titles, despite all three men starting strong.

What happened after WrestleMania XIX?

After that year’s Wrestlemania, all three men went their separate ways for the most part and went into different promotions. They are a very important part of professional wrestling in the world today and are one of the best teams to ever step into the squared circle, having formed free-thinkers. They have absolutely no affiliation with any promotion or company, as they have their own rules and regulations as to who they work with and what they do.

Conclusion

They are different, unique, and talented as individuals who are breaking into the world of professional wrestling on their terms but also coming out of a team in TNA Wrestling that’s had over three decades of success there since 1990 has been one hell of an accomplishment for them.
