Avatar 3 is an upcoming American science fiction film directed, written, со-produced, and co-edited by J. Cameron. It is the third film in Cameron’s franchise, and a sequel to Avatar: The Way of Water (2022). The film is expected to be released in December 2023 for Christmas. Cameron confirmed that the film is not going to be a prequel, and he does not plan on using any of the ideas from his proposed Avatar: Gardens of the Water project.
