The Black Adam series by writer extraordinaire and Vertigo Comics publisher extraordinaire, Neil Gaiman is finally here. The story of the Marvel Family’s most reviled villain has been in the works for years now. The Black Adam series takes place in Kahndaq rather than America like its predecessors. The country is still embroiled in multiple wars and the people are exhausted. Scott Free, otherwise known as Mister Terrific, has been appointed the country’s leader but he too is finding it hard to rule. He has found that he cannot retain his grip on power and his military forces are like a horde of mice scurrying around. It is only a matter of time before they destroy themselves.

Enter Black Adam, who faces off against the Justice Society in issue #1. The battle does not start well for him though as J’onn J’onzz, Martian Manhunter and Superman all have their powers at full strength on him.
