The burden of Truth is a Canadian legal drama tv-series, which premiered on CBC in 2016. The show takes place in the fictional town of Woodville and follows an ambitious young lawyer named Joanna who has been recruited to defend clients from wrongful convictions. About Burden of Truth Season 5:
Joanna is a smart and driven big-city lawyer who moves to a small town in hopes of leaving the past behind. She begins working with an assistant district attorney, Billy (Peter Mooney), and together, they take on cases while trying to hide their attraction for each other. Joanna gets involved in local politics when she agrees to take on a wrongful conviction case. In season four, Joanna takes the law into her own hands and teams up with Billy to investigate who killed Peter’s daughter, Hannah (Alisha Newton). Meanwhile, Luke is having issues in his marriage when he learns that his wife may be pregnant.

Release Date of Burden Of Truth Season 5:
The release date for the 5th season of Burden of Truth has not been released yet, but it is expected to be on screens in 2022.
Production:
CBC released the first trailer for Season Five on their official Youtube channel in late April 2019 after teasing fans with a postcard featuring Joanna’s wedding ring sparking speculation about whether she is dead or alive in Burden of Truth Season Five. The series is produced by ICF Films, Eagle Vision, and Entertainment One (eOne), with Steven N. Anderson, Mark Montefiore, and Morwyn Brebner serving as executive producers on the project.
Filming:
The production for the show takes place in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The first season was mainly filmed at Armstrong Studios and on location around Selkirk Avenue which is a street located in downtown Winnipeg.

The series is an award-winning project and has won several awards such as the 2018 Canadian Screen Award for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series, two Directors Guild of Canada Awards for Excellence in Direction – Television Movie/Mini-Series (Jocelyn Clarke), one Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit and four additional nominations at 2019 CSA’s.
The Plot of Season five:
The story of the upcoming season is about Joanna’s life after she decides to run for mayor. Her opponent, Erica Barry, a retired judge, and current justice minister, will try everything in her power to stop her from winning by using dirty tricks.
Joanna has an old case that could ruin Erica if it came out into public. The question is, will she use it against her opponent or not? It seems that Joanna’s decision to run for mayor has a lot of consequences. She must now decide what’s more important for her – winning the election at all costs or fighting justice.
The burden of truth season five will consist of six episodes. It is the first CBC original series to premiere on Netflix internationally following its linear broadcast and streaming on traditional Canadian platforms, according to Deadline Hollywood.

Critics have been mostly positive about the show. About 80% of Google users liked it, giving a “thumbs up” to its plot and acting skills. The burden of truth season five holds an approval rating of 91% based on 18 reviews, with a weighted average score of 77 out of 100 on Metacritic.
Expectations:
The fans of the TV series expect a good season five and all seasons in general. With such a big and talented cast, they will not be disappointed! The series can be compared to Suits or Republic of Doyle, the audience is expected to consist mostly of baby boomer women. The show has a loyal fan base that keeps growing with each episode.
