The burden of Truth is a Canadian legal drama tv-series, which premiered on CBC in 2016. The show takes place in the fictional town of Woodville and follows an ambitious young lawyer named Joanna who has been recruited to defend clients from wrongful convictions. Joanna is a smart and driven big-city lawyer who moves to a small town in hopes of leaving the past behind. CBC released the first trailer for Season Five on their official Youtube channel in late April 2019 after teasing fans with a postcard featuring Joanna’s wedding ring sparking speculation about whether she is dead or alive in Burden of Truth Season Five. The series is produced by ICF Films, Eagle Vision, and Entertainment One (eOne), with Steven N. Anderson, Mark Montefiore, and Morwyn Brebner serving as executive producers on the project.

Filming:

The production for the show takes place in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The first season was mainly filmed at Armstrong Studios and on location around Selkirk Avenue which is a street located in downtown Winnipeg.

The Plot of Season five:

The story of the upcoming season is about Joanna’s life after she decides to run for mayor. Her opponent, Erica Barry, a retired judge, and current justice minister, will try everything in her power to stop her from winning by using dirty tricks.

Joanna has an old case that could ruin Erica if it came out into public. The question is, will she use it against her opponent or not? It seems that Joanna’s decision to run for mayor has a lot of consequences. She must now decide what’s more important for her – winning the election at all costs or fighting justice.
