What inspired you to write the Choose or Die series of books?
The series is inspired by Choose Your Own Adventure books which first came out in the early s. I have always been a huge fan of them and they have influenced my entire career as a writer. I used to collect the books and would read them over and over again. I used to create my own stories but when I wrote this series I decided to go back to the source material.
Which one of your characters do you relate to yourself most?
All of my characters are very different from each other, but then again that is what makes them a lot more interesting when they come together at the end of each book. As a writer, I would say that I share some qualities with Isaac, he is also a very huge gamer and has a strong sense of right and wrong.

Why do you think dystopian fiction is so popular right now, and why do you think?
I think it is because people are afraid of the future. They are worried about the issues that we are facing today, and that is why you see dystopian fiction coming out all the time. I think that people need to know what is going to happen in order to prepare for it, these books help us do exactly that.
If you could be a character in one of your works, who would it be?
I would like to be Laura in Choose or Die Book 3 and I would want her to have a baby. It would also be nice if she had her hair down and held my baby when I was reading her a story before bedtime!
What are your favorite dystopian novels, and why do you like them so much?
My favorite dystopian novels are the Divergent books, I just love the idea of factions and how they change our life. I also really like the book Starters which is very similar to this series. There are also some Manga series that I like such as Hunter X Hunter and Kuroko No Basket. All of these stories have a strong basis in reality but it’s quite interesting to see them on screen or on paper.

What do you think makes your work stand out from other authors?
I am not sure what makes my work different from other authors, but I do know that it is probably down to my strong imagination and writing style. I always try to include something new in my work and never repeat myself. I think that novelty is important because it keeps writing interesting for me.
