Crazy Rich Asians 2 is set to hit theatres on September 19, 2019. The movie is based off the novel of the same name by Kevin Kwan. Crazy Rich Asians 2 will be produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson’s Color Force in association with Ivanhoe Pictures. It was announced that Henry Golding will be reprising his role from the first film with Constance Wu, Gemma Chan, Awkwafina, Ken Jeong and Jimmy O. Yang also returning for the sequel. In March 2018, it was announced that Ken Jeong would also be directing a segment in the film.  It was reported that Michelle Yeoh will reprise her role as Eleanor Young for the second installment of the “Crazy Rich Asians” trilogy following its theatrical release.

The sequel will introduce new characters to the ongoing story of Rachel Chu, a New Yorker who travels to Singapore with her boyfriend Nick Young to visit his best friend, who has agreed to marry her.  Rachel joins forces with Nick’s best friend and something of a playboy, Astrid Leong-Sicai, played by Michelle Yeoh. But when Rachel meets the aunt who owns much of the city’s property, Eleanor Young (played by Michelle Yeoh), she learns that Eleanor’s true love is not Nick but his family.

When directing the film, Jon had to make sure that everything was done in an Asian way, from accents to sights to cultural things and Jon did it perfectly.
