What inspired you to write the Deep Water Series?

The series is inspired by a true story of an expedition where 12 people were trapped in the ice, and they had to stay there for 60 days.It took me almost a year to write this series. It was very challenging because I was working as a full-time writer, so I had to divide my time between my family and writing the script. It took me several sleepless nights to complete it.

What was your process for writing the series – did you plan it all out beforehand?

I start by jotting down a note in my notebook. I follow that up with an outline and then I try to understand the characters better, then I start explaining the theme and their motivations.I always wanted to write about Georgia’s experience in the ocean, where there is no air, so I decided that she would have to adapt somehow. Something as gross as snails would fit right in!

Why do you think the Deep Water series should be included on Netflix?

It’s been discovered by many people because of its great characters, fast-paced adventure and thrilling plot twists. The most obvious answer would be that the gamers would need to survive in the ocean for 60 days.  When on the boat, it would be very important to avoid getting seasick and having your oxygen run out until rescue teams reach them. That’s why we invented the oxygen system in Deep Water series!

Do you have a favorite book in the series, and if so, why is it your favorite?

I love Lost Horizon by James Hilton. It is a beautiful story of how a group of people work together to survive in the Himalayas. I also love Deepwater, because it is the most thrilling part in my books – Georgia and her friends are trapped in the ocean and they have to face tons of dangerous animals (The coral snakes, The Giant Squid and tons more).

One of my favorite books was written by Ernest Hemingway. It’s called Islands In The Stream and it’s set on an island near Cuba. It’s about a rich man named Myron Bolitar who lives on the island with his wife Sara. Myron must go and live on the island for a few weeks for business reasons.

What makes these books special in your opinion?

I think the most special thing about the book is that it has everything that a reader would need to enjoy and to be entertained at the same time. There are so many challenges and dangers in it, so when you read it, you start imagining what YOU would do if you had to face them. I also like the dark theme which I used throughout the book – something about survival or fighting for survival can be very appealing to readers who are looking for ‘the next big thing.’
