The Dune Part 2 series is set in a dystopian future where humanity has been mostly wiped out by war and natural disasters. The world has collapsed, but remnants of society have survived. Those who remain have built an all-encompassing empire that consumes the world’s resources. Now, people from all over the planet are enslaved and forced to work under harsh conditions.Timothée Chalamet stars as Paul Atreides, an individual whose family and identity were destroyed by the royal house of Arrakis, which is now ruled by the Harkonnen family. The Atreides are forced to flee into the desert, where they slowly build an army of fellow refugees as well as a new generation of fighters who possess the ability to control nature. The series is directed by Denis Villeneuve, who has helmed critically acclaimed films such as Arrival and Blade Runner 2049. His work on Blade Runner 2049 led Villeneuve to be nominated for an Oscar in the Best Director category.
