The Fairy Tale series is an ongoing series of posts that will offer up a different fairy tale story every week. This is the first of this series, and the first fairy tale to be covered is “The Listings of the Week Castle.” In “The Listings of the Week Castle” a king moves his wife into a mansion for her illness. At first, it seems like she’s better but eventually,y she passes away. Then one day 200 years later, a woman arrives at the castle with her daughter in search of work. The woman is the daughter of the king and queen, whose husband and father died shortly after her birth. The rest of her life was spent making lists of various things and filling them out every week with a different color pencil. It isn’t until her late thirties that she learns to write and she realizes how much she has forgotten.

This is the second of the Fairy Tale series, titled “The Ant and the Grasshopper.” It tells of an ant that invites a grasshopper over to his house for dinner. The grasshopper refuses and says he wouldn’t eat at the house of an ant. The ant is angered by this so he tells the grasshopper that if he can come up with some cheese then they can have dinner at his house. The grasshopper finds some cheese and brings it back to where he’s been staying but realizes that ants are living in his home.

What inspired the director to write the Fairy Tale series?
The series is inspired by a fairy tale sold by the Brothers Grimm called “The for Sale Sign Castle.” It’s about a man who finds an abandoned house that needs some work. He takes it home, but he is then put under a spell where every time he redecorates the house, a return to the way it was before happens. He eventually gets rid of his furniture and floats in the air with a bed with only one post. The owner of the home learns to live off of what’s around him so he doesn’t need any furniture or walls anymore.
