It was said that the filmmakers known collectively as Radio Silence was working on a fresh interpretation of John Carpenter’s “Escape from New York” after their success renewing the Scream franchise earlier this year.  Recently, the filmmakers responded to those rumors, apparently confirming that such a movie is in the works. However, they also admitted that it is still very early in the process and that a script has not yet been written for the follow-up to the adventure. It looks like a new approach to the concept won’t be moving forward until perhaps next year because they’ve been working on “Scream VI” more recently. The long-awaited remake of John Carpenter’s 1981 action classic “Escape from New York” will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, with producer Chad Villela on board. The directors are currently associated with the 20th Century Studios reboot movie.

What is the “Escape from New York” story?

“Escape from New York” is a 1978 film directed by John Carpenter and starring Kurt Russell. In the original “Escape from New York” movie, Kurt Russell played Snake Plissken, a strong, experienced special forces commando who must rescue the President of the United States from a crime-ridden Manhattan that has been transformed into a maximum-security prison. Along with other late 1970s movie legends, the movie also starred Ernest Borgnine, Lee Van Cleef, Donald Pleasence, and Isaac Hayes. It’s unclear where the future film will take the plot, but it should be noted that New Line Cinema previously tried to recreate “Escape from New York” in 2007, but the project never developed.

What will the future of “Escape from New York” reboot?

“Escape from L.A.” will be the sequel to “Escape from New York” like the original.  The original movie is based in 1997 and it was released and was directed by John Carpenter with actor Kurt Russell once again in the lead role of Snake Plissken. Twenty years after the events of the first film, America’s most wanted criminal is offered his freedom upon one condition: he must travel to L.A., now a penal colony for political prisoners and all those who have tried to escape New York, and rescue the President’s daughter from a gang called “The Surf Nazis”.

Comic adaptation of Snake Plissken of “Escape from New York”

The Adventures of Snake Plissken, a one-shot by Marvel Comics, was published in January 1997. The story occurs somewhere before his well-known Cleveland escape detailed in “Escape from L.A.”. And between“Escape from New York” and “Escape from L.A.” Snake has stolen several modified metaviruses from the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta and is searching for Chicago-based purchasers. When he discovers that the deal he was in was a set-up, he flees and exacts revenge on the buyer for tipping off the US Police.

Computer game adaptation

The first installment of the well-known German video game series Gothic was based on the movie’s narrative. The Nameless Hero, the game’s protagonist, is dispatched on a covert mission to a penal colony (“Mines Colony”). This colony is the imaginary kingdom’s prison, cut off from the outside world by a magical barrier.

In the Conclusion
