The Five Days at Memorial series is a five-part series that explores the events of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath at Memorial Medical Center in New Orleans. The first four episodes have been preempted by episodes of Undercover Boss. This article will recap and review what transpired during episode 5, the final episode in the series. Dr. Anna Pou is working to save patients, but her efforts are proving unsuccessful. It is later revealed that she had been using experimental drugs on her patients without their knowledge or consent. The episode ends with her death from the drugs. 

The episode opens with Dr. Pou in a hospital room, where she is on a monitor speaking to someone about the patients and their condition. A man has entered the room and is making his way down the side of the bed to grab Dr. Pou, but she notices him and begins screaming for help as he tries to strangle her to death. She continues screaming for help as nurses rush into the room and try to subdue him, only to be overpowered by him too.

This series will be released on 12 August 2022. Also, the series has already been renewed for season 2. The second season will air in the year 2023. This episode was a little more graphic than last week’s. It started with a man trying to strangle Dr. Pou, but it was hard to tell what happened as the screen went black and they immediately cut to a commercial break. From the previews of next week’s episode, it seems like he succeeded in killing her, which is too bad. I was hoping she would get out of this mess somehow and move on to something else.

The plot of episode five of Five Days at Memorial is that one of the Memorial medical center doctors Dr. Anna Pou has been successful in saving two patients who were trapped in the flood waters. Unfortunately, she was not able to save the third patient. The family members of the patients are thanking Dr. Pou for her efforts and are happy that they have been saved. There is a medical board meeting taking place where everyone is discussing if they should put you on forced leave from your position as director of surgery at Memorial due to your recent treatment of patients without any kind of consent from their families.

What inspired the director to write the Five Days at Memorial series?

The series is inspired by the real events that happened in a hospital in New Orleans. The series is based on the book Five Days at Memorial: Life and Death in a Storm-Ravaged Hospital. The book was written by Sheri Fink, who was a journalist at the time of Hurricane Katrina. She covered the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina along with some doctors and nurses who have been struggling to keep their patients alive during the chaotic period after flood waters entered their hospital. 

Who are the director’s favorite characters and why?

The favorite character of the director Carlton Cuse is Dr. Anna Pou. The situation with her is very intense, and it was very challenging for him as a director to shoot it. He wants to capture the exact emotions on her face, which is why he chose this part to be his favorite. The reason he chose Sheri Fink’s book as the inspiration for this series is that he liked the way she captured the story of those doctors and nurses.

What themes do the Five Days at Memorial series explore?

The themes of the series include what’s required to do the work of a doctor, how ego clashes with how medicine is practiced, and how to maintain a moral line in desperate situations.
