The Starring Cast:
- James Norton plays Sidney Chambers, a recently ordained priest who works as the village clergyman. He was nominated for a National Television Award in 2012 and won it in 2016 for his role in Grantchester.
- Hugh Rankin plays Leonard Finch, the vicar of St Andrew’s Church from 1956 to 1968 and again from 1979 until 1996. Then he retires and is replaced by Sidney Chambers.
- Carolyn Pickles plays Mrs. Mags, who runs the Grantchester delicatessen and Post Office with her husband Henry (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor). She was nominated for a National Television Award in 2013 for Best Supporting Actress.

The plot of Grantchester follows Sidney Chambers (Norton), a charming, handsome, and unapologetically adulterous clergyman who turns to a murder investigation to escape his troubled past. Grantchester season six plot is yet to be announced. However, the upcoming installment will likely follow Sidney’s relationship with Amanda Kendall (Morven Christie) and his blossoming romance with new vicar Kate Reed (Sharon Small).

The plot follows Detective-Inspector (DI) Geordie Keating, a Cambridge police detective who is aided by an Anglican priest/police chaplain, Reverend Sidney Chambers. The two must solve the murder of a missing girl in Grantchester, a village outside Cambridge.

Reviews for the show have been highly positive, with many critics hailing it as a success due to its plot and cast. The drama currently has an IMDb rating of eight out of ten stars from over one thousand users.
Expectations:
The show is expected to do well with the drama continuing its trend of exploring dark themes, such as rape and homophobia. It is expected that Grantchester will air season six in early 2022 on ITV Encore in the UK. It will also be available for streaming on Netflix internationally.

Grantchester season four received an average score of 80% based on 12 reviews per review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. The plot summary was praised.
