Haunted Mansion Movie: Tiffany Haddish And Lankeith Smith To Play Key Roles

Disney has announced that it is developing a new movie based on its Haunted Mansion ride. The film, which will be directed by Rob Minkoff and produced by Guillermo del Toro, will star Tiffany Haddish and Lankeith Smith in key roles. This new project follows the 2003 release of another Haunted Mansion movie, also loosely based on the Disneyland attraction. The 2003 film was set in New Orleans Square at Disneyland park and inspired by Disney’s version of the ride located there.

THR confirms that Haddish and Stanfield are in the negotiation phase for Disney’s Haunted Mansion, helmed by Justin Simien. If cast in Haunted Mansion, Stanfield will play a tour guide who lost his spark and connection with the supernatural after becoming widowed. Meanwhile, Haddish will play a psychic hired to speak with the dead. Haddish is best known for her comedic roles in films like Girls Trip, Night School, and Like a Boss. Stanfield has played more dramatic roles in FX’s Atlanta and Judas and the Black Messiah.

Unlike the previously mentioned film, this movie will feature a family moving into the mansion and facing some eerie activities.

About the movie “Haunted Mansion.”

The Haunted Mansion is a Disney attraction that was first opened in 1969. The ride, which features ghosts and other supernatural beings from the afterlife trying to frighten visitors, has operated continuously at Disneyland Park since its opening day on August 12 of that year.

There were also two films made based on this popular theme park attraction. One came out in 2003 starring Eddie Murphy as an overworked plantation caretaker who takes his family for a vacation to New Orleans Square, where they soon learn about the ghostly inhabitants there, including Madame Leota, played by Jennifer Tilly.

The upcoming Haunted Mansion movie is set to be directed by Rob Minkoff, who also directed The Lion King and Stuart Little. It has been said that this film will not follow a linear plotline; rather, it may take on different forms across time periods, unlike its 2003 counterpart, which was entirely set in New Orleans Square during the 1800s (despite being released in 2003). Because of these changes, it seems likely that most if not all of the main characters will be played by actors from diverse backgrounds with just one or two exceptions.

In addition to Haddish and Stanfield, there have been reports about Jason Blum producing while Aaron Guzikowski penned the script.
