Here’s What Kate Beckinsale Revealed About Her Real Date

Kate Beckinsale has never been on a conventional dinner date and admits she usually just gets married. The 40-year-old actress confessed to People magazine that when someone asks her out for the evening, she assumes they are interested in more than a meal. “I’ve never been on a real dinner date!” Beckinsale said. “Usually it’s like, ‘Do you want to get married?’ And I’m like, ‘Oh no!'”

“The only time I have is if somebody comes into my house and says, ‘Can we talk?'” Beckinsale told the publication about how her home is often flooded with fans who come over unannounced.

Kate Beckinsale is an English actress. She made her film debut in Much Ado About Nothing (1993) while still a student at the University of Oxford and went on to receive international recognition for her performance as Selene in the Underworld series (2003–2016).

Beckinsale was born on 26 July 1973, in Hammersmith, London. Her father was an advertising executive and her mother, a housewife. Beckinsale has two older sisters, Sophie (born 1971) and Emma (born 1974), both of whom are also actresses.

Beckinsale was educated at the independent Godolphin School in Salisbury, Wiltshire before she left to focus on her acting career. She began training at the Drama Centre London in 2004; she graduated from the school three years later with a BA degree in Acting Studies.

She received formal dramatic training at The Old Vic Theatre School for one year under actor/director John Blatchley after which he offered her representation by his agency ATA International Management Group Ltd., where she then modeled for their “Ones To Watch” campaign alongside Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, and Luca Della Casa. Beckinsale starred in the independent film “Losing Gemma” (directed by Joel Hopkins). She was nominated for Best Actress at the British Independent Film Awards.

She said, “I have never been on a real date.”

In her interview with ExtraTV, Beckinsale confessed that she’d never been on an actual date, which she considered a traditional dinner with a stranger. She didn’t appear to be disheartened by her dating confession, though, as she claims she would hate to sit in front of someone she didn’t know, forced to watch them eat without knowing if they would work as a couple. “I always end up marrying them, so I never get to have a proper date!” she joked.

This also seems true of her relationship with Len Wiseman, who she married one year after meeting, and her unwedded but committed co-parenting relationship with Good Omens star Michael Sheen. Her fear of dating a stranger is undoubtedly relatable to her dating history.

Beckinsale has a lot of success in her love and professional life without formal dating invitation. With many people relating to her discomfort over the conventional meet-up, perhaps there will be a time when dinner date courting will become a thing of the past, and people will choose more manageable and less expensive ways of getting to know each other.
