What inspired the director to write the Inside Man series?
The series is inspired by the real-life story of Lyndsey Marshal, her untimely death at the age of 19, and her family’s decision to move on after her death. The director had always wanted to make a series about people who made multiple choices throughout their lives and how each choice affected them. The director also wanted to focus on what it means to be a teenager, as well as mental health issues. He had thought about tackling this issue for many years but was unable to truly grasp what it meant until he met one of his best friends’ mothers who suffered from bipolar disorder.

The favorite characters of Grantham are Mary and Gwen. Mary is his favorite because she doesn’t think about her gain but always thinks about the happiness of others. Gwen is his favorite character because he loves the character of Gwen as it represents how a person with mental illness is so easily misunderstood.

Given the Inside Man series will be based on a fictionalized telling of a true story, I want fans to know that we want to stay loyal to the story. You will recognize certain characters that were inspired by real people but certain elements were fictionalized to make the story more dramatic.
