Insidious: Fear the Dark is an upcoming supernatural horror film directed by Patrick Wilson in his debut, with a screenplay by S. Teems from a story by film creator Leigh Whannell. The film is a sequel to the film Insidious, and is Whannell’s fourth installment in the film. The film follows psychic Elise Rainier as she investigates a supernatural disturbance in a family home, leading her to believe that there may be more than one presence. James Wan, who directed the original film, served as executive producer for this installment.
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the new entry will focus on the character of Dr. Elise Reiner (Lin Shaye). She’s a parapsychologist who helps a family terrorized by a dark force. Insidious 5 is written again by Leigh Whannell, with James Wan and Jason Blum serving as producers through their respective companies – Atomic Monster and Blumhouse Productions – along with Oren Peli as executive producer via his company, Pelican Films.
