The gossip girl reboot is finally here, but is it worth watching? It’s been a long time coming, and the show has been met with mixed reviews. Let’s dive into why the Gossip Girl Reboot may be for you or not.

The Gossip Girl Reboot: lack the drama and logic

Drama: The show lacks the drama that made gossip girls so addictive, and it’s not clear why they’re trying to cash in on a franchise whose popularity has died down. There are few of the same characters as before, but many newcomers lack depth or development. It feels like more effort was put into production value than a plotline, which is disappointing given how much potential there was for something great.

Logic: What logic could be behind making these drastic changes? Why would Dan (Penn Badgley) suddenly have an older sister unless he had some sort of character arc? And what does this mean for Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen), who just got out from rehab at the end of season four!?

Production Value: Production value is misleading. There are some gorgeous shots, but the storytelling lacks direction and continuity. The dialogue feels awkward at times because it doesn’t reflect how people speak in real life or even in a high school environment. It can be distracting from just trying to get lost in the drama of this show that once made us care so much about these characters!

Is it worth watching?

Gossip Girl Reboot Review: Probably not unless you’re an absolute fanatic like me who wants closure with your favorite series on TV growing up. But don’t go into this expecting something new and refreshing for all those years ago when we loved gossip girls as teens – there’s nothing left here for fans aside from nostalgia and curiosity.

The show’s tone and the pace were off, the characters were all unlikeable. It made for a difficult viewing experience that left me feeling exhausted with only two episodes in. The gossip girl reboot is just not worth watching unless you’re an absolute fanatic who wants closure with your favorite TV series from when we were teens.”

What do I think of Gossip Girl Reboot?

I’ll admit it: I’m not too keen on this new version. That might be because I grew up with the OG version and have seen every episode at least five times each over the years, but to me, GG high school feels and sometimes can even feel like there’s something wrong or off about how people speak here! The dialogue is often stilted and unnatural, the jokes feel flat, and there’s no sense of urgency or drama to anything that happens.

Do I have to wonder if the creators wanted this rebooted version of GG to be like a parody? I’m telling you: they’re not even trying! It feels more like someone dragged out an old script from ten years ago and thought it would still work today with only some minor adjustments (like adding in cell phones for example). The whole thing is so dated already after just two episodes!? What’s going on here?

The characters are all supposed to be older now too – but it doesn’t really seem like any effort was made at portraying them as such. None of them look different enough and while Chuck is supposed to be this grown-up lawyer, he still acts like a teenager.

The one character that did seem changed the most is Blair – and she’s not even acting any better! All her scheming in Season One was just for wealth or revenge; now it seems like all she wants to do is find some guy with money?! In every scene? She should have been rich after everything she went through before – but no: Chuck has gone broke because of taxes and alimony payments so now they’re both struggling financially. And then there are these random kids in their 20s too who magically know each other from college!? It doesn’t make sense.

There might be an interesting story here if none of the characters made any coherent decisions, but instead, they all make idiotic decisions. Georgina is the worst offender: she has a kid with Nate now (who also makes no sense).
