In December 2018, Dwayne Johnson confirmed that filming had begun on Jungle Cruise – the sequel to Disney’s Jungle Cruise and will feature stars Emily Blunt and Jack Whitehall as a new set of recruits who must help defend a remote outpost in India against an evil snake cult. It was revealed by Johnson that the plot of Jungle Cruise will be a continuation from where they left off in the previous film.

In January 2019, Jack Whitehall confirmed he would return for Disney’s Jungle Cruise sequel and was excited about reuniting with Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt: “I am so excited to be returning for the Jungle Cruise sequel, this time alongside Emily Blunt and my old friend The Rock. We had such a blast making the first film together back in 2016 that I just couldn’t turn down another opportunity to work with everyone again.”

The Plot:

Johnson was excited for the sequel after learning there’s a potential spin-off film based on his character, Frank. The actor also stated that he wants to do more action in this film compared to the first one because they are “no longer rookies.” Blunt also expressed her excitement, “I cannot wait to return to the Jungle with this insane cast. It was so much fun shooting in Hawaii which is one of my favorite places I have ever visited.”

In early 2018, Johnson said the plot of Jungle Cruise would be more similar to National Treasure and Romancing the Stone. “Down on his luck and needing a break from the past, riverboat captain Frank (Dwayne Johnson) is given an opportunity to take command of a dilapidated boat that runs passengers through the Amazon River. With this new job comes mysterious tasks he must complete along with navigating down unknown waters full of dangerous obstacles.”
