The first Justice League movie, which was directed by Zack Snyder and written by Chris Terrio, is one of those things. A sequel to the smash hit team-up flick has been in development for a while now, with Snyder returning as director and Joss Whedon coming on board to finish the screenplay after Zack stepped down due to his daughter’s death last year. And now we know when they’re going to release the sequel, and it’s not too soon.
Justice League is a major success for the DC Comics cinematic universe. It has grossed more than $657 million worldwide and generally received positive reviews from critics. In response, Warner Bros are now looking to make another sequel with Snyder returning as director and Whedon coming on board to finish the script after Zack stepped down due to his daughter’s death last year (this was before he left social media). The release date will come out later, but it might not be too soon given that other studios have shown interest in releasing their own comic book movies in 2020 so they don’t clash with Justice League II.
One of those other studios is 20th Century Fox, who already released Deadpool sequels earlier this month which brought back Ryan Reynolds’ Merc-with-a-Mouth for more meta and fourth-wall-breaking fun.
