The storyline of “National Treasure: Edge of History”

The story is based on the true events surrounding the so-called “Roswell Incident,” which occurred in 1947. The radar technician who spotted a blip on his screen that wasn’t supposed to be there was Dr. J.B. Hale, who believes it is somehow connected to the “Roswell Incident.” He begins to research this lead, which leads him to Ben Gates and his father Charles, two historians and treasure hunters with a love of history and exploration.

“For a show, it is important the viewers feel a connection with the characters. The character in the film and TV series is not the same age as Ben Gates. The story is about a group of young people who are trying to understand what it means to be young and on their journey through life,” says Bartha.

New characters for a new storyline

The storylines in the upcoming Disney+ series will remain true to various historical events of the period. However, Bartha says, “The storyline is about a subject matter that’s in the very heart and soul of the National Treasure films. That being said, as soon as you move into a different territory with new characters and different storylines, we’re now creating something original. I think it’s important to be able to go there and see what happens.”

Bartha added: “I do see the film and TV series as being separate entities. We’re creating something new and unique, a Disney+ original that people can watch in its entirety, or they can enjoy this first installment and go from there.” After Bartha agreed to appear in the Disney+ series, he had reservations about how his character would be portrayed.

In making his decision to appear on Disney+, Bartha admits he was swayed by Disney+’s vision for their streaming service. “Disney has a great history to create something special for theory viewers. They’ve been doing it for years. They’re always looking to evolve and do things differently.” We hope to see Bartha in the future in the “National Treasure” series.
