What inspired you to start the Killing It series and what is your goal for it?
The series is inspired by my work and play experiences. I always wanted to be a writer, so I started practicing with blogs in late 2017. After that, I was inspired to do a book since there weren’t any books about counting snakes out there. So the first book of the series is Killing It, which is published in digital format only. Now, I’m working on editing the second book of the series and planning for the next part about how he will continue his amazing snake-killing adventures.
How do you choose who to feature in the series and what criteria do they meet?
I carefully choose who we should feature in the book. We always put effort to feature some of my friends and family members. That’s why Craig Robinson is featured in the first part of the series and not Claudia O’Doherty or Rell Battle.
This series is targeted at middle-school students to high-school students who like to think critically and create their own stories. Readers need to be able to handle the mystery, humor, and drama of the story so they can enjoy it when they read. The characters are also selected based on how much we like them and how much we know about them through real-life encounters.
Why do you think it’s important to share these stories of success?
It is important to share stories about success to share stories about how to handle life’s problems. The story of Craig Robinson and some other characters are examples of how we can face our problems and overcome them in this world where there is no clear road map for our actions.
