The BBC has been teasing a new series of LITTLE VOICE for over a year now, and the anticipation is building. The release date was just announced as well – January 2022! The first season received mixed reviews, with some viewers loving it while others found it to be boring. But if you’re looking for an intriguing mystery drama that will keep you guessing until the end, then this is your show!
ABOUT LITTLE VOICE 2 :
A down-on-his-luck, aging stage actor whose voice has gone on him, sets out to find his old agent; and as he goes from door to door, behind each one is a memory of what it used to be like: the struggle with an insecure wife who was always telling him how absolutely hopeless they were. The long hours spent waiting for a call never came. The humiliation of having to be interviewed by his daughter in order to get the part as an old man when he was used to being courted and fawned over.
RELEASE DATE:
The release date has not been officially announced, but it is expected to be near fall next year.
THE PLOT:
The show centers around a young man, Johnny Worricker (played by Tom Hollander), who is questioning his sanity when he believes that the voice of his dog, James, has been stolen. The series follows him as he tries to work out what exactly is happening and how it’s affecting his life.
The PLOT is not too predictable, and there are many unexpected twists along the way which keep you engaged in what’s happening to these characters. It’s a comedy with serious moments, when necessary, but also provides plenty of laughs as it explores life in small-town England at its most raw and real.
The second season begins a year after the events of Season One when Tony takes his final bow and disappears from public life following an altercation with fellow musician Adrian Finn in front of his young daughter Maddie.
PLOT SPOILERS:
The season starts with Johnny and his wife, Marion (played by Olivia Colman), discussing the events of a year ago. The show flashes back to that time as it’s revealed that Adrian Finn was an MI-type spy who murdered Tony Worricker in order to be with Maddie.
THE STARRING CAST:
Some of the cast members include Tom Hollander, Daisy May Cooper, and Nicholas Pinnock.
New additions to the cast include Shirley Henderson as Miss Logan, singer Gabrielle Aplin as Maddie Finn, and Sinead Cusack as Laurel.
 FILMING:
Filming for Season Two began the first week of October at Albion Mill Studios in Newton Heath, Greater Manchester, with a cast and crew of 200. The filming continued at the site for two months.
EXPECTATIONS:
The show is expected to have the same wit and humor that was seen in the first season while also having a darker plot, including an exploration of mental health (e.g., depression) which can be prevalent among young adults today who are constantly bombarded by social media shaming/criticism or bullying from peers.
RATINGS:
Season two has an average rating of a B+. It is not clear where the show is heading as it unfolds to its conclusion but what we do know is that it will be well worth the watch.
