Based on Edward Ashton’s 2022 novel Mickey7, Bong Joon-ho will write, direct, and co-produce the upcoming American science fiction movie Mickey 17. The movie is set to be released in 2024 and will star Greg Kinnear as the protagonist. Shortly, Niflheim falls into disaster, so two companies send a new expedition of five hundred people to colonize it. The crew includes four expendable people who share a common memory: Mickey7’s life of recollection. The group’s job is to colonize the ice world and make it habitable for humans by 2035 when their company will gain ownership of it.  However, one iteration dies due to unforeseen circumstances and another one regenerates with most of his memories intact – only having changed his name from Pete10 to Roy8. The film’s synopsis reads “After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. The crew members are more controlled in the second incarnation and, as a result, the mission is much riskier.”
