What inspired you to write The Morbius Series?

This series is inspired by the Marvel Comics character Morbius. “It was an agent of the Gargoyle, a secret society of vampires who also happened to be a vampire himself. To learn more about Morbius and his story, follow the characters and their battles, and explore the mysterious circumstances that led to this film.”

“I’m not sure I have one favorite in the series so far. There is something for everyone in this series. There is an aspect of slight horror, science fiction, and mystery to each installment.”

How did you come up with the characters of Eric and the Areopagus?

I thought it was a good twist on the Morbius movie. “I wanted to make sure that we developed a different element of this story. And to do so, we needed a villain that was different from Thanos, Loki, or Red Skull. We also wanted someone who could stand out against them as well.”

“I love writing Dr. Eric, but it’s difficult when you are writing a series like this where there is no clear antagonist. One of my favorite characters to write is Martine Bancroft because she is a strong female and she has some of the most interesting stories.”

How do you come up with the ideas for your characters and storylines?

I like to have an idea in my head and to build off of that. But I like to leave room for spontaneity and for the characters to develop as the story goes on. I think this has proven true over the last four books already.” “I usually start with the character and what they might be like. I often look at the past of an aspect of work first and how it could fit into this series. Then I start creating a backstory for that character.”

When you are writing a book or a series, or anything for that matter?

“There are many problems I face when writing but the biggest one is refreshing my thoughts on paper. It’s something that has taken me a while to get used to but now it makes it easier to think out loud instead of thinking in my head while letters fly across the page.

I like Eric’s character because he is a fun character to write. He also has a lot of interesting aspects to his backstory and how he developed his powers that we haven’t seen yet. I want to dive into those and add more about them as the series continues.”

Are you currently working on any new projects that you can share with us?

“Yes, I am currently working on a book about vampires in the present day. It is a series that will focus on the human aspect of vampirism and how it affects those who have been turned into vampires. It’s something new that has the unique twist that makes it stand out from the other vampire books out there.”
