The show is about the fictional town of Mystic Falls. Elena Gilbert is the protagonist of the series. She met her love, Stefan Salvatore, and his brother, Damon Salvatore while they were in school at Whitmore College and they became very close friends. Ten years later, Elena got a message that Stefan had arrived in town and was having car problems so she went to help him out. When she was with him, they kissed and somehow Elena became a vampire. Now that she is a vampire she has to adjust to her new life. She goes to live with her Aunt Jenna and Uncle Paul.
