New Amsterdam is an American medical drama television series. It follows Dr. Max Goodwin as he takes over as the new Chief of Medicine at New York City’s Bellevue Hospital, which has been nicknamed “the Death Star” because it has a higher mortality rate than any other hospital in the city.
New Amsterdam also traces the efforts of two nurses who are trying to improve conditions at their workplace and find out what caused them to lose their license after they’re accused of stealing narcotics from Bellevue Hospital. The series is created by David Schulner and stars Ryan Eggold, who plays New Amsterdam’s physician-in-chief, Doctor Max Goodwin.
