Obi-Wan Kenobi is coming to Disney+. The series will be about the Jedi Master played by Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor as he trains his young padawan, Ben Skywalker. There are still many details that we don’t know yet but this post will give you all of the information we have so far!

The action is coming to Disney+! Obi-Wan Kenobi a new, limited series written by Joby Harold and directed by Deborah Chow that will be set after Revenge of the Sith (2005) has been announced for release in 2020 on the streaming service.

Partially based on Dave Filoni’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated show, it will star Ewan McGregor as Alec Guinness’ character from that film while also introducing an all-new actor to take his place when he trains Ben Skywalker, played by another newcomer aged up from ten years old.

The story begins with Obi-Wan Kenobi having a look over Luke Skywalker on Tatooine, ten years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith (2005), and takes the character on a “rollicking adventure“.

McGregor will be playing the role of Alec Guinness’ character, following in his footsteps as well as continuing his story onward from where he left off with him at the end of the first six Star Wars films.

He said that “I didn’t want this film to have an action sequence every few minutes”. For example, “there are sequences which take place during a battle between light and dark”, but they don’t involve action scenes or fighting because it’s about them trying to get away rather than engage in combat.

He also revealed that fans can expect different interpretations of characters like Darth Vader (voiced by James Earl Jones) and Yoda, because “these characters are so iconic that they can be interpreted in a multitude of different ways”.

How the story is told to viewers:?

The show looks at these points from Obi-Wan Kenobi’s point of view; he reflects on how life continues after Darth Vader is defeated. Whereas before there was action, now it centers around an older man who has lost everything but hopes for redemption through helping someone else fulfill their destiny.

The action sequences only come when necessary to maintain what the audience expects from Star Wars films rather than every few minutes throughout this drama series with little dialogue.

The show will be an action-adventure drama series with a running time of six hours. It is set ten years after the Revenge of the Sith, and it follows Obi-Wan Kenobi’s life on Tatooine as he protects a young Luke Skywalker from The Empire.

Although there are now Star Wars movies that take place in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, they won’t have any connections to this new Disney+ series because George Lucas wanted all future films to start fresh with a new cast instead of continuing with just one character.
