Peter Pan & Wendy is an upcoming fantasy adventure film directed by David Lowery, who wrote the screenplay with Toby. Jim Whitaker & Joe Roth served as producers in the production of Walt Disney. The film is being distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. Based on the story of Peter Pan, follows the adventures of Pan and his friends in Neverland, who are facing an evil force coming from inside the island. The film stars Rooney Mara as Wendy Darling, with Hugh Jackman as Peter Pan and Garrett Hedlund as James Hook. Deadline confirmed that Rooney Mara had been cast in a lead role in this film to be directed by David Lowery. The movie is currently in post-production. The screenplay has been previously developed by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless and John Davis & John August for Warner Bros. It was previously set up at New Line as well as a film adaptation at Sony Pictures from James Bobin and Marc Lawrence and again with a more straight-forward villainous villain character by John August, but the project did not progress. The project was revived by Walt Disney Studios after receiving an enthusiastic response to their animated version of the story released on DVD and Blu-ray.
