A real estate development that has the potential to change the face of North and Northeast Minneapolis is set to break ground in the coming weeks. The four-story, 45,000-square-foot building will offer office space on the upper floors and retail on the bottom two levels at 2415 W Broadway St. The top floor will be home to Rosemount’s first medical marijuana dispensary.

The Medical Cannabis and Retail Development Project is expected to create 86 jobs with a $2.5 million investment into North Minneapolis. This project would perpetuate business in Rosemount Business Park and provide affordable workable commercial space for other new businesses looking to move into this neighborhood.

How do I get a job at the facility?

The number of positions available at the facility will be determined by interviews and qualifications.

What kind of office space is there?

The building features two floors of office spaces. The occupancy will be divided between large tenants and nonprofits. Also, there will be retail space on the second floor, including a dispensary.

Where is it located?

The business park is located near several businesses, a Hy-Vee grocery store, and other services like CVS pharmacy and an Ace Hardware store. The building is also across from Starbucks.

Who will be leasing these offices?

Large tenants will include local nonprofits like United Way, St. Stephens, and other local community groups. Tenants will then sublet to other businesses. The facility will have an open floor plan, allowing tenants to make it their own.

What amenities will the building offer?

The complex will include a gym for tenant use, a bike storage area, and a laundry room. Tenants can also enjoy free parking and easy access to light rail transportation via the station located across from Starbucks in the shopping center on 18th & Broadway.

What is the timeline for the development of this project?

The groundbreaking is set to begin in October 2015 and is scheduled to be completed by December 2016.

Who is eligible?

The business park will be available to any non-profit, for-profit, and private sector entities that meet the requirements of the agreement.

What are the requirements?

Competitive office leases will be available to qualified businesses. Nonprofits and public agencies must hire employees from within the area and not force out local workers by relocating there. Local businesses must keep their current employees from leaving.

Will the project be open to all types of businesses?

The goal is for the business park to become a commercial hub for North and Northeast Minneapolis neighborhoods.

How much does it cost?

The complex will feature a mix of office, rental and retail space. The building will have flexible lease terms, as well as ground floor retail space offered at below-market rates — ideal for entrepreneurs who want to establish their businesses in this area.
